food = happy

I have to say, I think I eat better here in Ghana than I do at home. Tonight is a perfect example. This is what we (me and about six other PCVs) are making at the TSO for our evening meal:

  • Pizza with homemade crust, Italian cheese and salami (DIRECT FROM ITALY. Craig, one of the PCVs in the Northern Region, just got back from vacation there), olives and vegetables.
  • Fried plantains with homemade guacamole
  • The salad I posted about most recently on obrunicookingshow.wordpress.com
  • Homemade garlic bread
  • Cheesecake from a Jello all-in-1 mix
  • Brownies
  • Oatmeal mango cookies (all me. delicious.)

Dudes! I’m eating this in Ghana!

Also happening today….I went on a run this morning – seriously needed after the decadent All Vol living – and it was really nice. I like running in Tamale because the light from the street lights is really orange and the sky is really dark blue (I start running before five). I feel like I’m in a complementary colour art project……I’ve noticed how a lot of volunteers, myself included, use “Or…” at the ends of questions like “Are you going back to site today or….” or “Do you think I should call my supervisor now or….” I love it. I think it’s cute, although I couln’t tell you why. Maybe I just like that we use Ghanaian Englishisms (“or…” “somehow” “small” etc.) without thinking about it. That’s integration. Okay, now I’m going to ogle this website right now with my friend Maria.
